THE MADE IN ITALY.COM

Premise: This company does not exist. It is an idea resulting from my experience in NY and from what is missing in the us market in term of Italian brands and companies.

The name of the company will be"The Made in Italy" and the domain "themadeinitaly.com".

What is the purpose of the company?
In Italy there are a lot of Italian companies in fashion of a small medium size that have a great product but don' y have the money, the knowledge and the strong to acquire share market in the us market.
So the idea is to put together 2 concepts very familiar to the us Market:
1. the Italian style
2. the commerce online

The purpose is to create an alternative channel of distribution for Italian brands and for the following products:
  • dress
  • shoes
  • jewelry
  • accessories
The goal is to open the market to Italian brands who aren't present in the Italian market and to begin to build awareness for their products. Actually the web site would have an intermediate role.

Elements/activities that need to be considered:
  • create a storage with all the products in NJ
  • create a website with a catalog of all the categories and products
  • create logistic partnership in order to deliver efficiently the products
  • create a package consistent with the layout of the site
  • create blog and give further information on the Italian brand in order to create awareness
The service:
  • great Italian product
  • great preview of the images
  • strong recommendations engine
  • medium prize located
  • delivered at home in a short time with a great package and all the related informations on the products
  • the suggestions: the site will have a section in which will be given all the fashion suggestions on how to use the selected product can be ware.

purchase the book!

My buying experience is describable in the following steps:

  • i have searched on Google the key word " bookstore". The first results were, obviously amzon, B&N, Borders. I have chose the first one in the SEO who wasn't among all those.
  • www.powell.com: it has been really easy find the book through the search engine within the site.
  • Set up an account is very friendly and immediate. So i haven't found any obstacle in doing it but i didn't like the layout (font of characters, colors....) of the page...too boring and doesn't made the user's experience enjoyable. Beside i think there were too long written information and the risk is too lose yourself
  • i like the possibility to choose the different options of delivering but personally i think there were too many options. I would probably say that 2 ways of shipping are enough.
  • The review section is well done in term of information. It summarize quickly all the informations i need to check.
  • I don't see a strong recommendations engine. No books related to the one i was buying were offered and promoted in an aggressive way. Amazon from this point of view is very well done and give a wide offer in term of information
  • In conclusion: the experience was ok, it took me more time than usually take me buying something online. But considering other website i think powell.com it is poor, not appealing. The user experience is boring and not interactive like it should be.
